When we began researching possibilities for a new home, we knew we didn’t want to live in an overcrowded neighborhood that lacked character, but rather wanted a home that fit our personality and style, and knew Meiste Homes would be able to deliver just that.

As you enter our home, you’re drawn into its heart, the place memories will be made. The living area is open with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a stunning fireplace that graces the two-story wall. We have layers of lighting offering function and ambiance to create the perfect mood for entertaining family and friends.

Opposite the kitchen, our family room boasts a second fireplace, perfect for curling up with a good book on a cold Michigan day. However, leave the thoughts of winter behind as you slip through the sliding glass doors and into a summer paradise.

Our custom deck overlooks the backyard, where another fireplace brings thoughts of warm summer evenings with friends, laughter, and food.

The side entrance hosts a spacious mudroom with a laundry area, and custom-built benches and lockers. A powder room offers our guests a chance to freshen up before joining the festivities.

Venturing back through the living area, a playroom and home office sit opposite from each other. In the office, a custom-built desk and shelving system ensures a productive working environment. The playroom offers plenty of storage and inspires exploration and creativity for our children.

Continuing through a set of double doors into the master suite, our relaxing bedroom is decorated in a calming shade of taupe with large windows overlooking the backyard.

Walk through another door into the spa-like bathroom, with double sinks, a built-in vanity space, and a stand-alone shower featuring custom tile and a built-in bench. A relaxing whirlpool tub surrounded by glass and mosaic tile awaits for those times we just need to unwind.

A massive walk-in closet completes our master suite. Custom features include shoe racks, glass built-in shelving, jewelry drawers, bench seating, metallic countertops, and floor to ceiling hanging space.

In the upper level of our home, a loft has been designed as a space to hang out, read books, watch TV, or play games – anything the imagination will allow. Off the loft area are two bedrooms on either side of a bathroom. These spaces were designed to allow our children to express their style in a way that can grow with them.

Downstairs, our family room offers more space for the kids to play air hockey or video games. The entertainment room welcomes you with a large TV surrounded by a stained wood wall and custom built-ins.

A kitchenette offers space for us to whip up a quick snack or grab a refreshing drink. Designed with an iridescent bronze backsplash, granite countertops, and hardwood flooring, this space is the perfect touch for the lower level.

The lower level also hosts an in-law suite for grandpa and grandma to retreat to their own space. It incorporates a laundry area, full bathroom, and a large bedroom with a walk-in closet and bonus space. A secondary entrance allows the lower level to act as a separate living area.

With careful consideration, we also designed the lower level with handicap accessibility in mind. A second staircase offers the possibility of adding a chairlift, and the entire level is laid out with plenty of open space.

Combining the talents of Meiste Homes with a custom designed plan allowed us to see our new home dreams come to life.
